Enemies Inspired - LaTonya Yvette
I’m excited to share with you one of my favorite blog writers, LaTonya Yvette! LaTonya is a master of storytelling - she uses spare, elegant words and images to evoke complicated feelings. I love to read her Instagram captions, because she has a way of capturing nuance - of holding the light and the dark together. On her blog, she shares her musings on motherhood, femininity, race and community. She challenges our world in a hopeful way, and I have deep gratitude for her openness.
LaTonya’s styled interiors feel like a home that’s seen life, in the best possible way. Collected and mismatched, her rooms make me want to settle in for good company and conversation. I also love that she frequently changes the setup of her own home. It reminds me of many childhood nights when I would wake to the sound of my own mother rearranging furniture after the rest of us went to sleep. There’s something about a consistent quest for optimal personal space that really resonates with me.
I was thrilled when I discovered that LaTonya’s book, Woman of Color, comes out in the Spring … you can pre-order it just like I did! I hope you’ll take time to get familiar with her work and her voice - and I hope you’ll love her as much as I do!
xoxo, Ginny
